NIMES, OCCITANIE

Nimes, Occitanie
Travel and street photography

Nimes is a city in the Occitanie region, Southern France, famous for it's Roman buildings such as the Arena of Nimes (A Roman amphitheatre) and Maison Carree (A Roman Temple).

The Arena of Nimes holds regular concerts and events. The summer Festival of Nimes attracts well know artists from around the world. When we visited the Cure were playing for 3 nights. Look out for the street photography opportunities in the bars around the arena, as fans gather and are dressed up ready for a night out.

Maison Carree is a perfectly preserved Roman temple. It sits in a square with shops and bars, but it has a lot of space around it so you can take wide angle images. Visit at different times of the day for great travel photography images.

Further afield is the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Built around 50CE, it spans the Gardon River between Uzes and Remoulins. Today the river is a popular place for swimming and kayaking. The bridge is a must visit for landscape photography, but you can also take action photographs as people jump off the rocks into the river.

Nimes has many other lesser known buildings, so look around and loose yourself finding your own travel photography experience.
