I travelled to Myanmar, formerly Burma, in 2018 for a charity bike ride. Myanmar had been open to tourism for many years, everywhere we went we were made welcome. I travelled with a Sony A7III and 24 - 70mm lens, perfect for storing in my bag on the front of the bike.

 

Travelling by bike we were able to meet locals and they were happy to be photographed.

 

Myanmar is a colourful, vibrant place with golden temples, monks in red robes and everywhere you look people in brightly coloured fabrics. I chose to present my images in black and white. to cut through the colour and focus on the people.

I found Myanmar to be such an incredible place for travel and street photography, I partnered with a local guide to start arranging travel and street photography tours. Covid and then the military coup in 2021 put a stop to our plans. One day I hope to revisit and start the tours I had planned.
