WHAT ARE YOUR TRIGGERS?

Triggers - Why do you take the image

For me triggers are more than a style choice, they stop me in my tracks and demand attention. Every photographer will have triggers, something that either consciously or subconsciously will make you want to take a photo. By learning what your triggers are you can learn to anticipate what will make a pleasing image for you and be ready for the shot.

Many things can be triggers, it could be a colour, a form of transport or even the way the light and shadow appears in the image.

One of my triggers is bicycles. With their distinctive shape, that has remained unchanged in almost 150 years, they are instantly recognisable. Bicycles work in silhouette, as shadows or as motion blur images.

In street photography you can be hunting or fishing. When hunting (looking for shots on the move) you will be searching for interesting images. When fishing you have chosen your location and wait for something to trigger
